News - Young People's Drop-in Counselling in Twickenham
Counsellors from Relate will be on hand at Heatham House, on Whitton Road, every Tuesday evening from 4-6pm to discuss any problems youngsters may have.
Counsellor Georgina Tan said she hoped the free service would give young people someone to turn to when life becomes too tough.
She said: “we are open to anyone from 13-25 years old, and the great thing about the service is that it is completely confidential, so they don’t need to worry about schools or parents getting involved.
“They can talk to us about anything, from relationships at home to their own relationships with boyfriends and girlfriends, or anything else they’re feeling anxious about.
“Sometimes life gets too much and young people don’t know who to talk to.
“Hopefully we can fill that gap.”
Anna Khan, director of Relate for Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, added: “Many young people feel very alone and have no one to share difficult experiences with.
“Many issues, however, arise from difficult relationships and have their roots in what is happening at home.
“A lot of young people can feel misunderstood by the adult world.”
